Malawi is often called "the warm heart of Africa" and "Africa for beginners". I can see why. The people are friendly and polite, the roads and infrastructure adequate for getting around easily on any budget, and the terrain so varied and jaw-droppingly gorgeous that you can swelter in the heat of the lowlands, freeze in the mountains, or take a dip in the lake year-round.
